C-1 max tire size?

Does anyone know the largest 60 or 70 series tire size that will fit on a 1960 without any rubbing problems using a 6 inch wide wheel?

Wally, I can only speak to '62 5 1/2" wide wheels w/Firestone radials that fit with no problems - 215/75R15 - check the current cover of The Restorer Magazine if you want a visual... Dennis

Make sure you have the correct offset for the wheel. I tried a 6" wheel on my `62 a while ago and did not have the correct wheel offset and the rear tires rubbed against the springs on cornering.

15X7 '69 Z28 Rally wheels with 225-70-15 tires will touch the left front inner fender (at the jog for the steering box) when making a hard left turn. I don't know the offset of this wheel (4-1/8" maybe). This is on a '62.
