C3 shifter mount bracket -repost .. help needed

I have been having issues with my 68 getting hung up in third gear .. so I removed the shifter, linkage etc .. cleaned it up and I am ready to start to reinstall .. however I have a few questions

1) What is the best lube to use on the shifter?

2) My shifter bracket does looks the one in the AIM EXCEPT for the bolt holes the holes are in the correct location BUT .. the one in the AIM has a welded square nut for the upper longer bolt ( 3/8-16x3") and a plain "hole" drilled through the bracket for the shorter bottom bolt (3/8-16x3/4") .... mine has the exact reverse .. the square nut is welded on the bracket for the shorter bolt and the hole is drilled through the top part of the bracket for the longer top bolt ( of course now this means adding a nut too .. this is not shown in the AIM as being required)... all of the replacements look like the one in the AIM ... which is correct ?? will it affect the peformance of the shifter

3) according to the AIM the bottom shorter bolt also bolts into the transmission through the "lower" "hole" in the shifter mount bracket .... is this correct too? mine was never bolted into the trans but only to the bracket.

Dale I have removed, cleaned, and lubricated my 68's shifter a few times. I don't know if I used the best lubricant, but Valvoline Special Moly EP #633 is what I used. Looked under my orignal owner 68 for answers to your shifter mounting bolts. The car is up on a four post lift and becasue of another Corvette parted under it that can't be moved until later, really could not see enough of the shifter to give you any information.
