    C3....Vacuum advance part #'s

Can anyone tell me the part numbers for the distributor vacuum advance canisters for the 70 thru 72 LT1's. What do the numbers mean, if anything, that are stamped on th bracket? I've seen them with 5 numbers and some with letters and numbers.
    Thanks

the three number in series are the last three numbers of the GM part number for the advance unit. The two numbers are the advance that that particular can is designed to provide at full advance. Send me the part numbers for the distributors you are looking for and I can probably post the can numbers.

Five numbers is an original type Delco can. The first three are the last three digits of the long number followed by the maximum crankshaft advance, such as 236-16. Aftermarket replacements built by Dana Controls have a three character alpha-numeric code, The replacement for the referenced "236" can would be coded "B28".
