Just replaced both front brake hoses on my 67 BB coupe to solve the problem of pulling to the right on hard braking.......................to no avail. I thought one or both hoses may be fully or partially collapsed on the inside, but I guess not, unless of course both new American-made hoses I paid $28 each for were bad, which is highly unlikely. Has anyone ever experienced this? Any chance it could be a sticky piston in the left caliper? Calipers are stainless sleeved, but the car did sit unattended for about a year and a half before I bought it. As always, I appreciate your help and advice. Thanks in advance, Rex NCRS #8089

in spite of stainless-sleeved calipers, leaks between seals and pistons(aluminum anodizes with resulting pitting of the alum piston) can and does occur. if the seal/piston interface is compromised and the dot fluid leaks out and saturates the brake pads, veering to left or right on hard braking is a common result. check pads, if wet replace after determining cause of saturation. stainless steel brake co in clarence n.y. sells stainless pistons(salty) that is a permanent cure for anodization of the stock pistons. good luck, mike -

After checking the things that Mike has suggested and you find that everything looks O.K. check to see that the pistons are retracking after the brake is released. If not you have some internal issues. If they are releasing properly and there is no unusual brake drag I would try pedal pressure bleeding the caliper inside first then the outside. Do it until the fluid comes out very clean. Look for any debry in the old fluid. All it takes is a small particle to affect the braking performance. If that doesn't do it I would then take the caliper apart for inspection and rebuilding.Comment
