    Re: 59 T-10 TRANSMISSION

You have usual T-10 wear on the synchro sliders and the synchro teeth on the gears. Only way to assess how extensive the repair will be is to pull the trans, disassemble, and examine all worn parts. There are better sliders available now that will reduce the likleyhood of this problem, but you still have to do the work. If not familiar with the inside of a 4-speed, I would advise professional help.

      Re: 59 T-10 TRANSMISSION

      Bill,
I am going through the very same thing right now with my ST-10. I pull the transmission and diassembled it. I have the 2.64 first gear ratio. All of my synchro teeth on the gears, the blocking rings teeth and the slider teeth were worn to the point of replacement. I got all of the needed internals for the transmission form Ed Harnett ( I think that is the spelling). He is very helpful and had everything but third gear in stock. I had trouble in finding the assembly/diassembly instructions but finally did. The following link will take you to the instuctions. this is for the ST - 10 but the instructions for disassemble still fit. (http://fiedlerh.home.att.net/images/ST10man.pdf)About all I can see that is different between the two transmissions is on the T 10 the thrust device for first gear is a needle bearing an on the ST 10 it is a thrust washer. Long post I sorry for that good luck
