Allen's exhaust provides a chambered exhaust I think. They are usually at Corvettes@Carlisle (coming up this Fri.-Sun.) and usually have a very good price there.

      Don,

The chambered systems are all 2.5"

Having said that, all small block manifolds have a 2" outlet, SO, the exhaust systems transition from 2 to 2.5 inches just below the manifold. This is similar to what the LT-1 had originally, as they also had a 2.5" system for all but the first 12 inches or so.

        Patrick:

At the advent of Corvettes with sidepipes (sometime after VIN 15,000 1965), any smallblock, whereupon the option was available, all used 2 1/2" exhaust manifold outlets. In this case being 300HP non auto, 350 HP, 365HP, and 375 HP, and, of course the L78 396 MK IV(mystery motor)engine. In 1966 and 1967, the TOKEN smallblocks (300 and 350 horsepower) both used 2" outlets on the exhaust manifolds.

Don: I believe Gardner Exhaust makes this system.

            Joe,

If you note, he has a 1970.

ALL 1970 (and 1971 and 1972) small blocks used a 2" exhaust manifold outlet, with the exhaust pipe swaged from 2 to 2.5" on LT-1's. 300 hp (base motor) cars used the 2" exhaust all the way back.

NO 2 1/2" outlet exhaust manifold was ever used on a 70-72 Corvette by the factory.

Patrick, I trust that you just got back from Carlisle. You had great weather, and I hope a great time. I very much missed being there this year, but circumstances wouldn't permit. Please, relax. I know that all smallblocks after 1965 had 2" exhaust outlets, but I just wanted to explain your quote "all smallblocks had 2" exhaust outlets". This is true, for 1970 models, but I wanted to qualify that statement for the benefit of those that do not know that some 1964-65 smallblocks had 2 1/2" outlets. My intent was not to "step on" your statement.

              Best regards,
              Joe
