Roy - you are putting it on, and I am taking it (VA) off! My 65 Convertible is being delivered tomorrow, prev. owner had VA put on, and since I don't live in hot-as-heck Phoenix, etc. I hope to be 95% top down driving - plus I have this strange itch to put her back to orig. shape . I would think a 64 core is pretty darn close, so please consider me interested.

I added Vintage Air to my 66 big block coupe when it was restored about three years ago along with power steering. My VA has worked great and I run it on low speed most of the time. Jerry Bramlett installed mine when he restored it and did a great job. So far the VA and power steering make this coupe a pleasure to drive since I live in the Southeast. Just wanted to add my two cents worth.

I installed VA in my 66 coupe. The under dash evaporator is a pain to install. I also don't like the new center vents they give you to replace the radio side panels. They are cheap vacuum formed ABS (plastic) with no cutout for the power antenna switch and the air outlets are too low and blow straight down the tunnel and past the driver/pass. I am trying to come up with a diverter to deflect the air on the occupants. The 2-1/2" hose to the pass side air vent goes past the rear of the glove box and when you install the glove box it pushes the hose into the wiper arm! I had to compress the hose into an oval and strap it down, mickey mouse. My thermostat (on the evaporator, behind the glove box) had an intermittent short which was a pain to find and would cause the compressor clutch to disengage randomly depending on the temp setting. VA did replace it and the unit has worked very well since. That's all I can think of at the moment. I think they could make a lot of improvements.

Two things I think would make it easy and better
1 Offer a shorter glove box or re-design it to help clear air hose as you said
2 offer shorter temp. and heat cables, they were not easy to connect.
I still need to get thier radi. fan unit to help keep the tem. down a little more, but still it works great and glad I installed it and will never go back to original. Any one need a heater unit?1967
