I have a 77 which looks very stock except the engine. The valve covers are aluminum ribbed with the corvette flag emblem on one and the other has filler hole in place of the flags. Both have crankcase vent holes. I want to make the whole car look stock (not trying to be competitive) and wondered what valve covers came stock.

Re: 77 valve covers
Robert----
The valve covers which you describe would be original for your engine, if your car is equipped with the L-82 engine option(5th digit of VIN= "X"). If your car was originally equipped with the standard L-48 engine (VIN code "L"), then your car originally came with stamped steel valve covers which were painted engine color. The original valve covers for your engine are GM #464675 (left) and GM #464655 (right). Both are long-since discontinued, but replacements are still available under GM #14025552 (left) and GM #12553271 (right). In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

I don't know of a place on the "Web" with pictures, but there might be one. Another option would be to pick up a copy of the 73-77 Vette Vues Fact Book. This is a fairly expensive book, but it's available from the NCRS office at a good discount. It will provide you with a lot of excellent information on your car. The books that every Corvette owner should include in their library are the GM Service Manual, GM Assembly Information Manual, and the Vette Vues Fact Book(if available for their model year series). In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
