Re: 67 BB with AC RH water pump stud.
I studied this a little for my 67 big block and came to the following conclusion:
The stud was in the waterpump block assy prior to painting. This stud is used for bracketry on a 427 passenger car but not on a Corvette. The stud was covered with a shield during painting so as to not get paint on the threads..possibly a piece of tubing or something similiar.... That way when the stud was used on a passenger car with options the threads were not full of paint. I observed this on a 427 survivor at Stone Mountain in April... No paint on the threaded stud but there was paint on the hex bolt. I also observed a 67 427 Chevrolet with a bracket attached to that point at a recent AACA national meet. Thus the basis for my conclusion... Sooooooo yes the hex bolt was painted but the threads were not.- Top

Yes the stud was used for bracketry. The stud was used to mount smog pump brackets on '66 and '67 Corvettes as well as passenger cars. How do I know this. I own a '66 with K19. By the way it is a '66 427/390 with k19 and C60.
