I HAVE A 66 427/390 WITH REBUILT ENGINE. CAR STARTS GREAT WHEN COLD. I HAVE TO CRANK FOR SEVERAL SECONDS AND PUMP THE GAS SLIGHTLY AFTER THE ENGINE WARMS. HAS A NEW HOLLY CORRECT # 3370 CARB AND THE FLOAT LEVEL WAS SET AND CORRECT. IGNITION IS A NEW TI WITH THE SOLID STATE AMP AND NEW HARNESS. AFTER IT DOES START I GET A PUFF OF BLACK SMOKE.I AM GETTING 8 VOLTS FROM THE "R" TERMINAL AT THE STARTER SOLENOID WHILE CRANKING , 3 1/2 VOLTS AT POSITIVE COIL WITH 4 1/2 VOLTS WHILE CRANKING. AFTER THE ENGINE WARMS I CAN TURN IT OFF AND HIT THE STARTER AGAIN AND IT STARTS IMMEDIATELY WITHOUT CRANKING. ONLY AFTER IT SETS AWHILE THAT I HAVE THE PROBLEM. ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE APPRECIATED AS I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO CHECK NEXT. I THOUGHT PERHAPS A LEAKING CARB INLET VALVE SEAT BUT I DON'T BELIEVE IT WOULD START IMMEDIATELY WHEN COLD IF THE FUEL WAS LOW IN THE BOWL.
