C2 steering gear

Any recommendations for a shop that rebuilds steering gears ? There were no apparent problems when I started the restoration, but since everything else is getting refurbished, I thought it would be a good idea for someone to go through the steering box also.

I have always had good luck with Van Steel at www.vansteel.com. Art is top notch, great to work with, and he will take the time to answer any and all questions, no matter how long it takes--a real "class act".

Steve,
At Carlisle, I had a nice discussion with the folks at Van Steel about steering boxes. Their advice was to remove the lower bolt and insert a Q-tip into the box; if grease is found on the Q-tip, the box is fine. If however, the grease has turned to a liquid (from manifold heat), the box should be serviced.

Also, check the box for excessive "play/lash" between the two gears.
