C2 idles alot lower when hot

My 327/365 normally idles at 900-950 until it gets good and hot. It then wants to idle approx. 550-600. Most times it will stall.
My assumption is, it has an air leak when parts are getting warmed.
I believe the the manfiold is sealed well, but need to verify.
What are other likely causes? Throttle shaft on carb?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    Gary:

Does the engine flood? Possibly bad needle and seat, float level too high, or fuel percolation. Is your heat riser working OK?

Have you checked for the proper vacuum can on the distributor?

Do you have a complete stock set up for the L76? Are you describing 900 rpm with the choke set on cold start up and then drops to 500 rpm once the fast idle cam drops off? If so it sounds like the easy fix is to raise the fast idle screw to 1800 rpm and raise the idle adjsutment screw to 7-900 rpm or whatever you like the idle to be at, my cam likes 700+...this assumes a completly stock L76 set up! I think your carb set up is working as designed ...just needs some simple 2 minute adjustments.

I had the same problem, but not all the time on my stock '64 L-76, usually after a good open road run and almost never around town. My theory is internal leakage or fuel percolation. I have dropped my front floats to the lower limit, replaced the power valve, metering block and float bowl gaskets. Also hit the carb body with a flat file, but it seemed straight. So far, the idle seems more consistent and smooth at around 800 RPM, but I haven't had a chance to get it out on the open road for a half hour or so.

            Scott,

I do have a completely stock L76 setup. Mine does seem to be intermitent and typically happens after a good open road run.
I'll try what you suggest, perhaps it will help.

            Thanks to all!
