1975 Corvette Coupe Glass

I am working on a 1975 Corvette and I am needing to know if anyone has information on potential glass dates that have been seen with various VIN's? I am needing to know the potential date for a car with trim tag code A14 (October 14, 1974) and The NCRS Birthday Book states October 21, 1974 for VIN: 1Z37J5S400174.

Also is OEM Glass the only place to get dated glass?

Any help would be appreciated.

Chris check this years archives, you will find phone numbers and sources for properly dated and logo'd glass. Try Classic Glass in Columbus Ohio

Chris If you are looking for side window glass the replacement was made so bad I used original glass and took the hit for the date if it was wrong. The script was bad and the glass to thin. If you find a source for a good repo. let me know. Check the driveline ads for windshield glass as their are more than one vendor. Lyle

The real question I need to ask is. Since 1974 Corvettes had the "Astro Ventilation" wording on the side glass and I have a first day car for 1975 (no wording) the 12 month glass rule would not apply? What would, one month? Does anyone that an early 1975 Corvette that knows for sure?

In my opinion, any side glass without "Astro Ventilation " script dated October ,1974 or earlier should receive full credit for originality. Glass produced in this time frame is correct for your car since all glass for '74 production had the Astro script.

I just received my NCRS 2nd Edition 1975-1977 Corvette Technical Information Manual and Judging Guide last night. I was able to find out on page 43 - 44 information on glass. The current windshield and driver side glass is generic aftermarket. As for the passenger side I found out it is coded "IX", equaling June 1968 or 1981. But it was also labeled M75 equal to a Convertible, so it must be a June 1968 glass out of a convertible.

I also read that the "Astro Ventilation" side window glass from 1974 may have been carried over on the early cars. Does anyone know or have proof with an early 1975 Corvette that one or both pieces were used to a certain VIN? I have VIN 00174.

Any help would be appreciated.

Chris Coupe glass is 90 degrees at the rear and convertible glass is about 110 degrees so it must be coupe glass but someone with a 68 would know if was all alike in 68 but I don't think it was. I have seen 75's with Astro Ventilation glass but don't keep records but the 73-77 Team Leader may and is listed in the contacts on this site. Lyle
