I looked at a 65' today that had a trim tag that read: STYLE 19 437, and TRIM STD. I know that 437 means coupe, but what does "19" mean. Also, does STD signify black interior? The car currently has beige interior.

Yes and No....
The TRIM format with St. Louis bodies generally is 65 4x7 (x=3 for coupe, 6 for convertible), whereas AO.Smith bodies had the format 19 4x7. Early S-bodies, to at least VIN 014xx, used another format "65 194x7" (Don't know if early A-bodies did this). This variation is not mentioned in Tech Manual & JG.
No, couldn't get sidepipes with 250hp, either manual or automatic; neither 300hp automatic -- these cars used a 2" outlet exhaust manifold, and sidepipes were only available in 2.5" dia inlet size. This changed in 1966.- Top

Re: 65 Trim Tag ID
The alpha character that preceeds the numerics to the left of the "Body" area on the trim tag is how one differentiates an Ao smith from a st louis body. If alpha is S then its a st louis body, if A then its an ao smith body. mike- Top

No. The N14 side exhaust was available with the optional engine/manual transmission combinations; L75 300hp, L76 356hp, L79 350hp, L84 375hp F.I. and the L78 396/425hp. Side exhaust was available on base engines, 300hp, with Powerglides in ’66 as outlined in Noland’s book. – Mark #35760- Top

Re: 65 Trim Tag ID
Nope - the "19" signifies the "19000" series, which was Chevrolet's series designation for the Corvette (12000 = Camaro, 13000 = Chevelle, 15-16000 = Impala/Caprice, etc.). A.O. Smith bodies are identified by an "A"prefix to the body number.- Top
