    c2 back up lights

I am trying to understand how the back up light switch works. Does the rod connected to the transmission reverse lever force the switch plate forward or backward to activate the switch and complete the circuit(lighting the backup lamps)?
My problem is after the harness plug at the firewall. A test circuit confirms
power to the harness and to the bulbs. Thanks.

    John -

When you shift into reverse, the rod from the reverse lever pulls the arm on the switch rearward, which closes the internal contacts and closes the circuit, illuminating the lamps. The purple wire is ignition-switched 12V to the switch, and the light green wire is the feed from the switch to the lamps.
