When in the 1967 production did small block cars get the big block hood? What VIN numbers would qualify for the big block hood.

production, something nagging in my brain leads me to wonder if the 1967 Shriner's cars got all big block hoods - probably need to check with Bill Mock or someone in that territory.Comment

Big Block Hoods Without Stinger paintjob??
Friends of mine were at Carlisle last week and saw a 67 BB with NCRS 97+ points certification. It did not have the stinger painted on the hood. Price was $70,000.00, so I doubt it was a small block car, but I don't know. Is this a possibility? Did anyone else see this car at Carlisle? They said it was a restored car.Comment

A local, unrestored, 67 Shriners car does not have a BB hood.
Small block, no radio, automatic, sidepipes. Very low miles, totally untouched. Setting in the same place for the last 20 some years.
And, no, he will not sell.

i never owned a 67 but i have ordered camaros and chevelles with stripes deleat and i am sure you could have ordered a corvette with stinger paint deleat. i also had non corvette colors factory painted on corvettes when the factory was still in st louis.Comment

Wayne: about 15 years ago, Randy Long who is a long time friend(he used to be in cohoots with roger gibson out of missouri-- who had restored several otis chandler owned vets, hemi mopars etc) called me and asked if a seller could drop off a 67 big block hood at my place till randy could stop by and pick it up . i said no problem and the seller shows up with a mint, orig paint red big block hood without stinger paint and without any evidence of 427 emblem holes in hood.(sure, it could have been an over the counter hood someone painted but, the seller stated he bought the car new in 67 and the hood was on it when he picked it up at the dealer). i didn't see any documentation to substantiate it being an orig big block hood factory installed on a small block vet but the seller seemed honest(so did Vern). my 2 cents. regards and good seeing you at carlisle. mikeComment

So if I understand correctly, there has never been a documented 1967 Corvette with a BB hood. Also, I dont have a spring 1993 JM so what VIN numbers would qualify if one did exist.

I have never seen one, and every time we hash this subject out over this forum, I always challenge anyone to absolutely and unequivocally prove it, no one has stepped up to the plate. You would think that if in fact they did this for five days that there would be a real one out there. Some site Noland`s book, some site certain cars, Noland seems to site a certain car, but friends, there aint an ounce of proof there. So all the guys that would love for their cars to be one of the chosen few, hold onto your hopes and dreams. Maybe one day a real one will come to light, but don`t hold your breath.Comment

I mentioned that it is my 67 that Noland wrote the artical on many years ago using my #12345 S/N and yes I still have her, because I never have it NCRS judged, but once over 20 years ago and it did get top flighted with the hood, I don't say I know any thing about weather it's true or not, just that I have a BB hood on my SB Corvette.Noland said he checked GM files using my SN and found that it happened with my Corvette (period).Comment
