Check out the photo of the stamp. I've never seen anything like it.

Re: 70 LT1 engine stamp
Seems like a nice car to have received a Silver at 92%.
I wonder if the stamp was an issue.
Anyone who was at the Meet know?

Re: 70 LT1 engine stamp
pat and chris: double stamping of vin deriv. could and may well be a factory anamoly BUT apparant absence of broach marks is suspicious . however photos usually don't reveal broch marks even if they are present. mike- Top

Re: 70 LT1 engine stamp
Mike, I would bet my money it was original, visible broach marks or not. I mean, what's a restamper going to say: "OOOPS...Nearly missed the freakin' pad (Man, I am hung over today!). I'll just stamp it again here in the middle."? :-)- Top

Re: 70 LT1 engine stamp
chuck: i know of a texas member who intentionaly stamped the vin derivative upside down on a restamped pad in an attempt to fool the judges. he told me so after we finished judging the 435 at cyprus in the 80's. mike- Top

Re: 70 LT1 engine stamp
Mike,
My 71 has a double VIN derivative stamp on the transmission. Factory anomaly absolutely.
