    Window Crank 1967 Model

I was advised by the N.C.R.S. folks at the Carlisle show this year to use this site to get some information. My window crank handles and vent crank handles on my 1967 Corvette are incorrect (one says Korea on the back side). I have a black vinyl interior. What part numbers should appear on the back of the window and vent window crank handles? Should the numbers be relatively small or large? I've seen both. What other identifying features do original, correct handles have? Any information would be appreciated..thanks!

    Peter -

My window crank handles have "20037599" cast into the back side of the handle portion, and the back side of the vent window crank handles don't have any numbers (at least that I can see with a mirror). The knobs should match the interior color, and you should see a rivet on the back side of the handle attaching the knob, not a screw.

Peter, to add to what John said.....the black knob portions of the 67 handles are noticebly thinner than the 65/66 knobs and as far as I am aware are not correctly reproduced as yet. They are around at swap meets but appear to be more difficult to come by these days in good condition. Some NCRS members may have a few laying around somewhere. Good luck.

To add to my question, does anyone know the correct GM part numbers for the 1967 black vinyl interior window cranks and vent window cranks?

Are the part numbers on the back of the cranks?

        Thanks!

          Peter -

There were originally seven different GM part numbers for each crank, as the finished part number changed with each of the seven different color knobs that were part of the assembly as received at St. Louis (all of which are long-since discontinued). Any number on the back of the crank is a casting number for the raw, unplated crank, and would be the same regardless of the knob color on the finished assembly.

There are part numbers in the A.I.M. for both cranks, but I don't know if they are for the "standard trim" black-knob cranks or if they're for the "chart" that shows the finished part numbers for each different assembly/knob color.

Peter - The Oct., 1966 Chevrolet Parts and Accessories Catalog shows a P/N 7680653 listed for the '67 PASS (black) DOOR WINDOW REGULATOR HANDLE that I expect is the same as used on the Corvette and a P/N 7680651 listed for the '67 PASS., CORVETTE (black) VENT REGULATOR HANDLE. Pete

              Peter -

Those are the same part numbers shown in the '67 A.I.M., so the A.I.M. numbers must be for the "standard" black trim condition, and the other six colors would be referenced from the Bill Of Material based on the trim combination number.

Those original knob rivets are hollow. They have..

a hole in the center when viewed from the inner side.
