    1960 fan

I was sure that my 1960, assembled first week of Dec. '59 had the correct fan; the one with the 2 inch spacer riveted onto the fan (does not have fan clutch option).

Should my early '60 have the spacer? or is this from a passenger car? If it is correct, I need one bolt (it disappeared last Sunday!) Any suggestions?

    Joe,
Your car should have an aluminum spacer, but it is not riveted to the fan. It has a center nub which approximates the shaft that sticks out on the water pump which goes into the hole in the center of the fan to keep it centered. It has a hole in the other end which sits over the Waterpump shaft nub to keep it centered there as well. The bolts that are used here are very hard to come by and I know of no one that reproduces them since they were used for such a lmited time. They are grade 8 fasteners, and should only be replaced with the same grade bolts. The 60 also used a fan clutch for the first time on high performance engines, and the shorter bolts for them are widely availble but unfortunately the clutches are not!
