C3...Gas filler boot full of water

I'm having a problem when washing my car with the seal around the fill cap filling with water. The rubber seal is new and the hose is not plugged. What do you have to do to get the drain to work? After washing, taking care not to run too much water on the rear deck, I have 6-8 ounces of water in the rubber seal. Did I miss something on the install of the new seal?
    Thanks in advance

Bruce The drain hose has a spring inside and rust or plug up. I would blow it out to make sure it is open as I see no other reason for it not to work. Lyle

I've put air to the hose and the air blows out full strength. The angle seems to be wrong on the boot, had the same problem with the old one, that's why I bought the new one. The drain hole is above the indention in the boot, should I push the back area of the boot down, but then it will be pulled away from sealing against the deck.

I have the same problem. It appears the drain hose is above the lowest point in the boot. Doesn't seem to be any good fix. I just dry it out with an old towel after washing the car.

What's the best way to replace the drain hose?

Mine rotted off at the bottm, and when I started messing with it, it disconnected at the rubber boot.

            Thanks,

            Rich

The boot is easy to remove if you take the gas door off. Take the boot off and re-attach the hose and slide the boot back over the filler neck.

                Bruce-----

These gas filler seal drains are marginally effective, at best. The opening, as others have observed, is above the lowest point of the seal, so there's no way that it could ever drain all of the accumulated water out of the boot. Beyond that, there is no vent for the drain system. If the seal becomes full of water, there might be enough head pressure to get the water flowing out. However, this rarely occurs.
