Extra Electric Fan for A/C Cooling???

I am thinking of putting a 10in electric fan to push air into the condensor to help improve cooling. Does anyone have any tips?

I doubt if you'll see any significant improvement; it may help a little in slow traffic, but it will present additional restriction to ram airflow through the radiator on the highway. Are you trying to improve A/C performance or engine cooling?

There is a book out, and I think available from the NCRS bookstore, on how to improve your AC performance. I haven't read it, but it can't hurt.

Some simple things:
1. make sure you have the foam collar that goes between your trans and body, to eliminate that airflow.
2. make sure your insulated foil shield is present above the transmission.
3. next time you replace your carpet, consider one of those new high tech ceramic insulating kits
4. be sure that your hot water shutoff valve, bolted to the outer right side of your Harrison AC box (inside the "gill" area) is working, and you don't have hot water running through the heater core when you run the AC.

The electric fan will definitely help A/C performance at low speeds, but will do nothing to help at highway speeds. Beware though, you may exceed the capacity of the alternator to keep the battery up at low speeds.

I had John Pirkle take the original case and put 100 amp internals in. Did this on a '72 big block with A/C and MSD ignition. Have had NO problems
