    '72 Only One Horn?

TIM/JG states that '71s and '72s only had ONE horn? Is this correct? The part number for '72 was supposedly 9000032. Was this a "low note" horn? Where can a correct replacement be obtained?

Yep, only one horn! In 1974, the second horn returned as an option (U05)....

With a single horn, the notion of high vs. low tone is a non-issue. You already know the PN, so it's time to roll up your sleeves, walk the swap meets, read the ads and check with those who operate Corvette scrap yards. Horns were also dated, so if you're trying to obtain factory concours status, you've got the PN and the date combination to hunt down.

Jack, was the one factory horn a low or high note? Also, was it mounted on the driver's side or passenger's? I pulled the horns from my '72 and found the following:

      Driver's side high note horn:
      "Delco Remy"
      "1307J2"
      "F"

Passenger's side low note horn (not working well, sounds like a sick duck):
      "Delco Remy"
      "1297G4"
      "D"

These part numbers do not correlate with anything in the TIM/JG. Probably replacements from GM?

        Kevin -

The horn part number is adjacent to the edge of the "trumpet" opening; usually the first four digits are cast, and the last three are stamped, and the date code is in the same area.

Thx John, I had already found the part numbers, etc. My horn's numbers just do not correspond with anything (e.g. part numbers outlined in the TIM/JG). I think I have Delco replacement horns. Btw, nice cars (I saw the links from your profile). Nice to know there's another Camaro guy to talk to once in awhile. That's how my wife and I met btw, some 24 years ago...she owned a '69 Camaro Sport Coupe, and I had a Z28 at the time. I went looking for the person at the party with the Sport Coupe...and met my future wife! She and I were just talking, earlier this week, about maybe adding another '69 Camaro to the garage.
