    C2 - Instrument Cluster

I've finally succeeded in getting the instrment cluster out of my 327/350 66. I have a few questions, now that it is out.
    1) Is there a way to check the instr. panel lights. Do they need to be in the housing to complete the circut.
    2) Parking Brake & Headlamp warning calls for a #257 bulb. They aren't readily handy at the local auto parts. Is there a substitue bulb?
    3) What should the tach redline be? I have 2 tachs, one with the 5300 redline & one with the 6500 redline.
    4) Ammeter gauge wires are not marked very good. What happens if they are accidently switched (just out of curiosity).

Sorry for the long thread, I'm trying to learn this stuff. Thanks for any help. It is much appreciated. Rich

    Rich,

    To answer your questions:
    1. Yes you need to complete the path back to ground. A wire clipped to ground and touching the bulb holder will work for testing of each bulb indivildually.
    2. There is no substitute, these bulbs blink their warning without the use of a separate flasher.
    3. The L79 or 327/350 has a red line of 6000.
    4. The ammeter wires are both "hot" or see 12v. It displays the difference of voltages as the flow of current.
    To make a suggestion:
Get a copy of the AIM. It ahas a copy of the wiring diagram in it.
