    C3 1971 ground wire

I replaced the underhood wiring harness that runs across the firewall to the starter. I cannot locate where a ground wire attaches. The wire is black in color with a ring terminal(attaches with bolt/screw). It comes out of the wiring harness close to the wiper motor area. The vehicle is a 71 model, 350/270hp manual transmission, no air, has power brakes. Anyone have an idea where this wire attaches?

There is a black wire that grounds to one of the starter motor mounting bolts. Could that be it?

To back up previous post, my original owner 68 and 70 has a ground wire connected to one of the starter mounting bolts.

        Here's my guess....

If the black wire exits the firewall harness in the 'Y' area (around/below the WSW motor), my guess is it's the discrete ground for the '71-only CEC control relays that mount on a L-bracket extending from the driver side, upper, firewall. Without a ground reference (L-bracket mounts to non-conductive fiberglass), the CEC system is 'helpless' in terms of operability....

          Thanks Jack,

That is where the wire exits the harness, I'll try that

            Jim and Terry,

I have that ground wire connected. Sorry I didn't mention that in my original post. Thanks though!
