    3269S Carb. Problems

I'm having a minor problem with my Carb. that I can't figure it out. When all the linkage is connected or disconnected and the engine is warmed up(choke seems to be working properly), If I give it gas and let go slowly the engine idle will stop at 1100 rpm. And if I flick the bellcrank the rpm drops back to 850. What could be the source of this sticking or interference in the Carb. Thanks for your thoughts,

    Carl

Have you checked for wear in the bore of the carb body where the throttleshaft runs through? This is a common cause of the idle symptom you have described. The bore can be bushed to return the snug fit.

Carl, I had a similar problem with an AFB carb this Spring on a brand "X" car. I sprayed generously with carb cleaner, all the choke linkage (top and bottom), idle set linkages, choke and throttle bore clearances where the shafts go through the main body. I "worked" with the linkages as I sprayed. I think all the gummed gasoline was dissolved and the carb afterward would return to idle as it should. Regards,
