    C2 1963 glove box door.

My 40 year old glove box door has several defects and I would like to replace the door. Does only one company reproduce the door, or do I have options?

    Jerry-----

The GM-licensed reproduction manufacturer for all of the 63-67 glove box doors, including the 1963-only GM #3841224, is Trim Parts. As far as I know, their parts are the only ones out there. That's good, too. Trim Parts makes the absolutely highest quality reproduction pieces available----every bit as good as the originals and, in some cases, better. I've not compared this particular glove box door to the originals, but if Trim Parts other reproduction pieces, many of which I have compared to original parts, are an indication, it should be perfect.

By the way, the 63-only glove box door is the most expensive of all the mid-year doors. Be prepared to "shell out" some serious cash. I believe that most of the vendors like Dr. Rebuild, Paragon, etc. carry this part.

Thanks for the information, we only need to replace the cover as the inside seems in good condition. We have a champion decal on the inside that appears to be period related. Did GM add this decal?

        Jerry----

If you are talking about a Champion Spark Plug label (the type used to note the mileage at which the plugs were changed), you can be absolutely assured that GM did not emplace this decal/label. GM NEVER used Champion Spark Plugs on any Corvette. So, they'd be most unlikely to emplace a Champion Spark Plug label. Especially since Champion was and is a direct competitor to their own AC brand of spark plugs.

I believe the few 63s that had Airconditioning did have a factory applied sticker on the inside of the glove box door.
I have the same problem with my 63 glove box door (Cracks). I considered buying the face only but was unsure of the proper adhesive to use to fasten it to the door liner. Any suggestions? I was concerned the wrong adhesive would damage the visable finish.
I saw a vendor at Carslile who wanted $310.00 for the face of the door and $360.00 for the entire door.

I bought the cover only because my door is fine now that the "Champion" sticker has been removed. We paid $324.85 plus shipping for the cover only. The adhesive is probably the same material we used to attach the cast metal hood plates. The material is available from your local hardware store and is called rope adhesive. Comes in black and grey. My glove box door cover was held on with black rope.
