I've ordered new exhaust manifolds, but they wanted the dates off mine. Are these dates correct for a 68 vette? passengerside F 17 7 = June 17,1967 and C 1 8 = March 1 68. My car is a April car (4 10, Body) and (4 11 Motor) date. Would the Passengerside manifold be that far back into 1967?? The "C" would represent "3" and would comply with being built 1 month prior to the motor/body. Would it be wise to have to manifolds dated a month prior to the assembly of the car/motor. What would you date the manifolds?? Who knows where this car has gone as far as parts and disassembly/reassembly. Help jc

Re: exhaust manifolds dates!!!

I think that it's possible that your June, 1967 manifold is original. However, if you're replacing them, I think that I'd probably go with manifolds dated more like your March 1968 manifold. I think that it's fairly moot, though. Dates on big block manifolds are on the inside surface and very difficult to see when mounted on the car. But, what the heck, selecting dates is free when you pay $325 each for manifolds, so you might as well get "dates" that would be less questionable. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
