When rebuilding my '64 L75, I installed a new clutch before putting the engine and trans back in the car. Had a devil of a time lining things up so the shaft would enter the pilot bushing using the plastic guide that came with the clutch; finally had to use the output shaft from the transmission to line it up. No problems once lined up in that manner, bolted it together and put the engine and trans in the car as a unit.
The clutch linkage is now assembled and adjusted per the shob manual. I have a bit of free play before the pedal begins to disengage the clutch. The clutch then begins to disengage with no problem; after about an inch or two of pushing on the pedal, there is a clunk I can feel with my foot - like I'm dragging something over a ridge or a depression somewhere. this is new - the old clutch didn't do this. I am at a loss as to what could be causing it - the throwout bearing looks to be in the proper position and I had no clearance or installation problems once the clutch was properly aligned. Anyone ever experienced this?
