Re: Call the place selling the Heater Box Seals ?
Geoffrey-----
Further research is being conducted as we speak by the "brank x" research organization. They more-or-less figured out how to make the seals after intensive study and reverse engineering. Now, they embark on the process to figure out how they are to be installed. These things take time, but with intensive research, applied study, and assembling the finest minds in the Corvette world, I'm sure that a solution and resultant instruction sheet will be forthcoming in the years ahead. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: C2 Heater Box Seals
If the seal in the Dr Rebuild drawing shows holes in the seal, it may be a very safe bet that the original part also had holes in it originally, so that the dolts would not screw up the assembly then, or now.
If yours is without holes it may be a genuine Blem Product or a repo made from a repo that was made from a repo and so on. Kinda like those clear AIM photocopies. Some dopes have even been known to copy the wrong stuff, thinking it's the right stuff.

Re: C2 Heater Box Inner Seal
I am in the process of restoring the heater box on my 65 which I have had for 32 years. Prior to my removing the box it appears to have never been off. I also have an inner seal that is as you describe" no holes" looks like it just went between the inner box and the firewall as a weather seal as opposed to a heater box internal seal. Jerry- Top

Re: C2 Heater Box Inner Seal
Jerry,
I think that you are right. The 66 judging manual specifies that one might notice a compressed foam seal that seals the box from the floor (I think that they mean firewall). Anyways, it appears to me that this seal is pressed or wedged into place with no cement after the heater box is installed into the firewall. It is held at the yop by the upper firewall insulation and at the bottom by the carpet.
Thinking back, I believe that this seal was also on my box and was not cemented on but just pressed into the flange. The new foam seal is cutout around its inner edges to fit into the inner heater box flange.

Dave Kitch
