I had a problem with my dash switch contacts and was able to find the problem thanks to some help from you guys. THANKS. I need to replace/repair the contacts on the switch. I looked through some catalogs and could not find just the contact portion of the switch, just the whole assembly for around 130 dollars. Can you get just that part of the switch ? Or can I repair the contacts to make a solid contact. Thanks for your help and ideas.

I don't think that any components of the switch are sold. However, you may be able to repair the contacts in the switch you have. If not, you're pretty much going to be looking at a new switch. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 65 headlight switch
You can take the switch apart, clean up the contacts, put it back together and you should be ready to go. My headlight buckets were not working and it turn out to be the switch as corrosion built up on the brass contacts. Once I cleaned the contacts and re-installed the switch, the headlight buckets work very well. There was an article in a past issue of the Restorer about taking the switch a part and and cleaning it which was very helpfull.- Top

Re: 65 headlight switch
About 12 years ago, I had to replace the headlight switch on a 65 coupe. It was the same as the 65 Impala and was available at the local autoparts store.
Good Luck.- Top

Re: 65 headlight switch
I was able to rebuild mine using the replacement clips available from Paragon for around $10. It's pretty simple to take the switch apart and clean the contacts using a point file or emery cloth. I had to fiddle with the clips a little to get it back together nice and tight but now that I've painted the housing and put it back together it looks good and is working fine.- Top
