C2 oil dipstick tube interference fit

My dipstick tube keeps moving around. What is the best way to correct this ?

I've tried a little glue, a little solder, LOOONG baths in the plating tank, but I've never found a better long-term solution than buying and installing a freshly manufactured oil gauge tube....

I took a deepwell socket that was just slightly larger than the inside diameter and hammered it into the tube to expand it just enough to make a tight fit. I installed with some locktight and it has held fine. I guess I was just lucky it worked but it is worth a try before you go buy a new one

If you have a '63 or '64, the JG says that, "The dipstick tube may be painted gloss black". A good thick coat of paint and some thread locker took care of mine.
