3856306 What was it on?

I recieved an exhaust manifold with some extra parts .cast #3856306 Big block cast date F235. Does anyone know what the application is?

GM #3856306 is a right side exhaust manifold applicable to 1965 full size passenger cars with 325 hp 396. In case you're wondering, those 65 passenger cars built with the L-78 425 hp engines received the same manifolds as 1965 Corvettes with L-78.

Joe, let me restate that for my own clarity. 3856301 and 3856302 were the manifolds for the 396/425 in the 1965 Corvette. You have indicated that the 38560305 was the manifold for the 396/325 in the 1965 Impala. Since I am looking for a set of manifolds for the 396/425 in a 1965 Corvette, your comment about these same manifolds also being used in the 396/425 Impala gives me hope that I might actually find a pair some day! Correct ? Thanks for the encouragement.

Yes, the 3956301 and 3956302 were used in both 1965 Corvette and 1965 full size passenger car L-78 applications. However, the passenger car L-78 applications were less numerous than the Corvette L-78. Only 1,838 were built. I don't think that you'll find too many of these cars laying around in junk yards. But, you never know what jewels-in-the-rough might be out there somewhere.
