    65 327/350 rear end spring

I found the problem on my rear spring after taking them apart, there was a break on one of the middle springs. I ordered all new parts to replace the old spring and rubber groments. Thanks for you help and advice. Next topic will be tires.

    Re: Reassembly

    Jimmy,
Glad that you found the problem with your '65.

A word of caution. When you reassemble the car, remember to follow the instructions in the AIM regarding tightening the spring plate bolts or damage to the differential carrier housing can result.

The AIM instructs us to torque bolts with spring compressed to design height. The guys who contribute to this panel tell us to have the car setting on its tires so that the spring is compressed.

If any doubts, check with some of the guys. You've come too far to snap the ears off the housing and create more work and expense for yourself.

    Good luck and good motoring,
    Gene
