Rearended someone with my 58. Extensive damage to the body but I don't think the frame/mechanicals are involved. I have State Farm Insurance for antique vehicles. Any advice appreciated regarding how to handle the claim (ie the adjuster, etc.) I live in Eastern Pa and heard good (but expensive) things about County Corvette. A friend used Thornton's (? spelling) with good results. They do only classic/resto work but do not specialize in vettes. They are also a direct provider for State Farm and handle the dreaded "adjuster" issue. Thornton's are a family owned/operated resto shop in Sellersville Pa. I plan to ask local vette owners their opinions too. My 58 was previously a fairly original beautiful driver that had some minor collision work done 25 years ago but retained the original fiberglass pieces and was totally repainted. I'm looking to try to retain the cars value as much as possible and get it back to beautiful driver condition. I do not plan to get this car judged. Thanks for any help. Ken

Re: C-1 Collision Advice
Your on the right track by asking other Vette owners. Also don't be afraid to ask the repair shops for references, and go see their work. A shop specializing in Corvette's might be a little more exspensive, but I would rather have someone who has done it before than run the risk of being their "first". Most adjusters for classic or specailty cars are easy to work with, they know you are going to be picky. I've dealt with several different ones in the classic boat business and only had a minor problem with one.

Ken: Since you live in the eastern PA area, get in touch with the Delaware Valley Chapter located in the Jenkintown PA area and find out who their members recommend in the area. M.F.Dobbins is a member of that chapter as well and I believe he is connected with a restoration shop in that area. Good Luck and I hope everything works out well for you. Len- Top
