I have just installed an original powerglide in my 63. The installation went well until I tried to install the flywheel cover I had purchased. It didn't fit. Does any know where I can get a powerglide fly wheel cover? I've searched several sources and so far no luck.
Thanks for the assistance,
Bob R
It depends what you're after. If you want an original cover, that piece was GM #3789959. It's been discontinued for well over 25 years. However, it's not a rare item in the used parts market. It was used on all manner of Powerglides from 1962 to 1968. All you need to do is locate a 62-68 with Powerglide Chevrolet in a wrecking yard, and you'll likely have what you need. Many wrecking yards might even have this piece in stock, already "pulled" from the car. I'll bet that they don't sell a lot of them these days.
If you don't care about complete originality, a replacement underpan is still available from GM parts. If you go in and ask someone at a Chevrolet dealer for an underpan for your 63 Corvette with Powerglide, they'll likely tell you that it is "discontinued". But, it's NOT. A 1969-era replacement is still available from GM. It's GM #3933089. I don't know how this pan differs from the original, but it should be a functional replacement.
