Does anyone know of a source for determining the application by manufacturer, model and year for Altas spark plug numbers? Or a cross reference to go from Altas # to AC or Champion #? Also does anyone know if Atlas plugs came as OEM plugs in the 50's or 60's? (I apologize for this not being a legitimate Corvette question.)
Re: Wntd: Atlas to AC/Champion spark plug x-refere
I recall "Atlas" was a brand name for tires, batteries, and accessories sold by Chevron gas stations on the west coast back in the old days - don't know if they still use it. Most gas stations now just sell gas and junk food. The old full service stations are long gone.
None of my current spark plug catalogs have a cross reference for Atlas.
I doubt if Atlas plugs were ever used by an OEM. Chevron likely had them manufacturered by a plug manufacturer like Champion and only sold them through their service stations.
