    64 - 365HP Dist Vacuum

Paging Duke---following along on Duke's advice in rebuilding my dist. I cannot locate the "prized" VC 1810 as suggested without a 2-3 week backorder. The only one close I can find shows a "START Vacuum" of 8" and "FULL Advance" at 18" when activated by my hand pump at the Napa store. Does this suggest its acceptable or should I get the correct unit as indicated by Duke? Gonna do it right, by golly. err--by Duke!

    Re: 64 - 365HP Dist Vacuum

The 365 HP engine generates only about 10" of manifold vacuum at about a 900 RPM idle speed, so the can that starts at 8" and tops out at 18" is NOT ACCEPTABLE.

Order the VC1810 and wait for it to show up. Substituting another is a waste of time and money. The engine won't idle properly without the VC1810 that has full advance at 8", so the diaphagm is pulled to the stop at idle for the full 16* vacuum advance.

I have had good success getting the Dist Vaccum can from Paragon or Corvette Central. Cans register 10 at idle. (236-16)
