Body of SWC

I am in process of stripping the paint of the body of my 63 SWC. When stripping the bottom of the body (It was painted black by the previous owner(s)) I noticed that the fiber strands are visual in some spots, specially around rounded corners. Is this normal ? Should I coat the natural fiber glass with something, or should I leave it as is ? I plan to have the car judged and then drive upon completion.
Any thoughts,ideas and recommedations ?

from my experience the fiber should be visable but not open to the touch. You can feel them as texture in most areas but should not be able to grab any with the tis of your fingers.
If you have an open fiber condition they should be sealed to prevent moisture adding to the deterioration.
