C1 Fender Protection

What are some recommendations for fender protection while working under the hood? I saw some photos of one restorer's shop where they appeared to use bubble wrap placed between the fender and a standard fender protector. Anyone have other ideas for paint protection?

The fender covers do a good job at protecting but I find mine do slip. I use the anti-slip material that they use under scater rugs.

Use the one piece type. It is called a fender apron. It is bigger than your normal fender cover, covers both fenders, and has an opening for the hood. Does not slip. Can be a little pricey.

Several of the vendors now have Corvette-logoed fender covers that are made of the non-slip material mentioned in one of the previous posts; my wife got me a pair from Ssnake-Oyl Products (the licensee), but others sell them also. They DO NOT slip.

John, I bought a pair at Carlisle from Bert Winans these are the ones that don't slip and tools don't slide off them. He can be reached at Winanssoc@prodigy.net

You should check out the one piece front end cover offered by Ssnake-Oyl. The web site address is www.ssnake-oyl.com.

I purchased one at Carlisle for my C2. It is great! Priced at $129 it may seem a little steep, but considering it will last forever and the price of a paint job, it may be the nicest thing that you ever did for your Corvette.
