I have noticed that my 63 340 will shake and vibrate when taking off from a dead stop. It doesn't happen all of the time and happens in reverse also. The LUK clutch is 1 year old, the flywheel was re-surfaced when installed. I did use the infamous plastic device when installing the clutch to center it. The clutch seemed to work fine until this vibration and still grabs and shifts strong once engaged. Any suggestion as to cause and remedy are always appreciated.

Re: Clutch Vibration
What does it run like above 4000rpm? Lots of vibration thru the shifter? I'd be checking the clutch disc if it has the above problems too. The disc can go "egg shape" and go out of balance.........Don't ask how I know. It usually happens to the cheaper model of Luk clutches though.- Top

Re: Clutch Vibration -Additional Info
Thanks for leads - How can I check for failed motor/tranny mount? Floor jack under either, raise slowly and look for movement? How about rear main seal leak? Check behind inspection cover for fresh oil? I am certain snubber is good and I hope seal is good - total rebuild 1 year ago. Also, I do notice a significant vibration through shifter at 60 + mph. Half shafts are balanced, driveshaft is balanced, rear end rebuilt and u joints are new. Thanks for advice.- Top
