    Where is section 8.900?

In my 53-82 Corvette Parts & Illustration Catalog (Dec. 83), I noticed I can't find section 8.9xx. In the Alphabetical Index, I don't see any references to it. However, in the Illustration sections, I find several to the 8.9xx section for various bolts, washers, pins, and such.

Does anyone know why this is missing? I thought it was possibly my copy missing a couple of pages but I went to the online CD and it does not have section 8.900 either.

Did Chevy just drop this since they figured they could grab bolts, nuts, etc. from the various bins without a P/N anymore?

Section 8.9 makes up the majority of a separate catalog called "Standard Parts Catalog" that covers all GM models and includes fasteners, fittings, and small hardware (the vast majority of the catalog), electrical connectors, labels, lubricants, touch-up paint, and other car car products.

Mike -- Duke has described it well. I also had never seen this section, until I obtained both '65 and '67 Chevrolet Parts and Accessories (Chassis) Catalogs, and there it is; roughly 22 pages of bolts, nuts, washers, clips, pins, drain cocks, Woodruff keys, tube and pipe fittings, connectors, fuses, rivets, expansion plugs, pipe plugs, and screws. The beauty of this section is that all is described by type, size, finish and GM part #. There are photo-quality drawings of all the types.

        Mike-----

Prior to about 1970, the standard parts (group 8.9) were included as part of the Chevrolet (and other GM car lines) Parts and Accessories Catalog. After about 1970, the Group 8.9 items were included in a seperate "Standard Parts Catalog". The seperate catalogs were MUCH more inclusive than the Group 8.9 section included previously in the regular P&A Catalogs. The last paper "Standard Parts Catalog" was printed in 1992. A Group 8.9 section was NEVER included in any Corvette Parts and Accessories Catalog, first printed in October, 1969.

It's possible that the seperate, Standard Parts Catalog was printed prior to 1970. If so, I've never seen one.

Now this would be useful. I'd love to get a copy of those 22 pages. Are they posted or otherwise available anywhere?

            Thanks everyone

I guess I have to look for this now. Well, it took years to get a nice copy of the Parts and Illustration Catalog so I guess I can just wait for the Standard Parts Catalog.

I don't believe these sheets or the separate booklet that Joe L. speaks about is being reproduced, nor posted anywhere [but I could be wrong]. These items seem rather mundane, but sometimes a part # in the AIM can be precisely defined by the detail of this 8.900 section's description. I would think you'd best have an issue close to the year of your interest, as these items were fit-for-purpose and the numbers changed rapidly.
