During the process of troubleshooting a malfunctioning directional flasher circuit, I have discovered a conflict between the wiring diagram found in the "1965 Corvette Shop Manual Supplement" and the 1965 Corvette AIM. Here's what I've found:
- 63 & 64 WD (Wiring Diagram) and AIM show the flasher unit attached to the fuse block.
- 66 WD and AIM show the flasher separate from the fuse black, wired under the dash.
- 67 WD and AIM show BOTH locations, which is normal for that model year.
BUT...the 65 WD shows the flasher as attached to the fuse block, while the AIM (UPC 12, B1) shows the flasher as wired separate from the fuse panel under the dash. Ironically, the wiring diagram in the AIM itself (UPC 12, D2) also shows the flasher attached to the fuse block.
So here is where I need some help. I don't have access to a 65 Vette. So for those who do, could you answer two questions for me?
1 - Where is the flasher on a 65 Vette? The fuse panel or under the dash?
2 - If located under the dash, what color are the two wires going to the flasher? (I expect one to be brown and the other purple)
Thanks in advance,
Bill
