C2 REAR SHOCK PAINTING

I am preparing to paint the rear shocks on my '67...does anyone know if the grommets securing the lower mounting hooks were originally painted grey along with the shock absorber body?

The lower shock grommets were not painted. However, the upper shock grommets, which were installed on the shocks prior to painting, were painted with the rest of the shocks.

Joe, I understand that was true of the rear shocks from one of your previous postings. Just to clarify.....on the fronts, the lower grommet as well as the mounting bracket was not?

On the front shocks, the lower grommet and bracket which goes through the grommet and mounts to the lower a-arm were painted with the shocks. The upper grommet was not painted, though, as it was installed at St. Louis.
