    Intake coating?????

I recently picked up a 67 BB aluminum intake that had been "jet hot coated" . I blasted it back to a dull finish. I want it to look as stock as possable but I'm concerned about the current state of porrosity and how oil or gas will stain it in it's current condition. Is there a product out there that I can coat the intake with that will protect it yet not change it's appearance? Thanks in advance.

Eastwood sells a high temp, fuel resistant satin clear that is intended for intakes and valve covers. I used it on my aluminum intake and it is barely noticeable. I'm not convinced that it would stand the temp of the exhaust crossover passage but I can't say for sure because mine is blocked. Also, mine is only a few months old so I can't attest to the longevity.

If you don't want to go to the effort of any hight tech processes, I've heard that if you blast the manifold with glass or plastic beads, it will hold that finish much longer than with a coarse sand blast.

George - another great choice is Jerry MacNeish at Camaro High Performance, or Don Dorfman, who used to own ASL, who now just restores aluminum manifolds. Either of these guys do outstanding work, and price tag for the preparation will be $85 - $125 if no repair work is required...Craig
