I have a '79 green coupe with about 42K on it now. The interior of the car is showroom quality, but the doors are beginning to rattle and I would like to quiet them down. I am not a mechanic, but am handy and would like to find a guide for eliminating the rattles. Things like suggested improvements, special tools or parts usually needed, etc. would be really helpful. Thanks.

John,
It all depends on the source of the rattle. I wouldn't be surprised if it might be just a loose nut or bolt. It happened on my 71. Really, you're going to have to remove the door panel, and close the door a few times while watching what's rattling. Once you're sure everything is tightened, odds are it will be the power window mechanism and/or one of its rollers.
You might also just need new felt guides along the top of the door to help support the window. These can be adjusted relatively easily to provide more pressure on the window (if they've worn) and decrease the in-and-out movement of the window.
Good luck.
