    Heater box repair - 68 - No A/C

Need to replace the distribution duct (looks like a horn that sends air to the passanger and driver footwell)that mounts to the bottom of the heater plenum or box on my 68 and can't seem to locate one with the usual suspects.

I saw Dr. Rebuilt sells all the seals, but I need the full part as mine is MIA.

Any leads would be very appreciated.

    Regards,

    Rich

    Rich----

The part you seek, GM #3917340, is long-since GM-discontinued and not reproduced, as far as I know. Try Pacific Corvette for a used piece. Since they inventory all of their used parts by original GM part number, it'll be easy for them to tell you if they have it or not if you give them this number. Dial them up at www.pacvette.com

      Rich,

You've answered one of my questions ("why'd you want to do that?") that I had when I read the Restorer article in the Spring 2003 edition. Starting on page 8, is an article caled "Mid-Year Corvette Y-Duct Repair, by Michael Haluska. In it, he reconstructs a missing Y duct from a midyear. If you have trouble locating a replacement for yours at a reasonable price, check out this article.

        Thanks Joe and Kevin.

Kevin, I recall that article (I think), but I believe he had the basic parts parts to work from to reconstruct the overall assm. I will look for that article tonite.

Joe, thanks. You recommended them for the heater control bracket for my car some months ago and lo and behold, they had it and sent it right on out to me.

I will check with them later today.

        Regards,

        Rich

Try a posting in the parts wanted section of the Corvette Forum. I got three responses for a C2 Y-duct in a couple of days and bought one in perfect condition from a guy in FL for $50 a couple of months ago. I've also had good luck with used parts over the years at Stoudt's Corvettes in Reading PA 610-374-4856.

Kevin, you were right about the article.

It was built from scratch with drawings made from a good unit.

I've also gotten some parts from these guys:

            Contemporary Corvette
            2705 Old Rodgers Road
            Bristol, PA 19007
            800-367-VETT [8388]
What: Corvettes-only junkyard (mostly C4 and shark cars) -- lots of broken/trashed Corvettes

Pacific has the piece I need, so I'm gonna get it from them.

            Thanks again,

            Rich
