I have a slight amount of Battery Acid overflow on the side of my AC Delco "original" stlye battery. I have cleaned it off twice but the white residue keeps returning. Does anyone have a "cure" to keep it from returning??
Lane,
First find out why you have the residue. After you find the reason a mixture of baking soda and water will neutralize it. I may require a couple of applications.
They do make pads that you can install under the battery that will absorb and neutralize the acid. You can get a bright yellow one at many auto stores that look like this , but I also found you can get them in black. Here's one source but I'm sure there are others.
I have *NO* affiliation with either of these companies or products.
Cleaning it as soon as you find it is definately the right response. These mats are just some insurance in case you don't spot a leak quick enough!
