It's amazing what folks will do to get an original of one of these "in order to replace a lost or damaged original". Check out eBay #2433815497. I hope the person that bought it doesn't make the SLIGHTEST mistake when the "original information for the car" is stamped on the plate.

Now the guy's gotta find an Address-o-Graph Machine with proper font, imprint in the correct fields (including known offsets for the particular timeframe and body source), then turn around and lose his "investment" in a couple of years when factory documentation becomes available [assuming this was bought for a color and/or added body options change].- Top

Re: Check the bid history.
Bill-----
No, that was a "protective" bid placed at the last second to "ward off an attack" by someone else. I don't understand why the bid amount increased by $10, though. The person that bought it, considering the price paid and the "protective bid", seemed almost desperate to get the item. It must be real important to him/her.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: Check the bid history.
Actually, often-times what looks like a person upping the bid against himself is, in fact, a bidder trying to overcome the seller's reserve, which is almost always unkown until you bust it.65 MM Convertible, L76 (365 hp)- Top

Re: Check the bid history.
Joe: The bid increment at that price range is $25. When the buyer made his penultimate bid, he could see that it went to the full amount. Therefore he was within $25 of the next lower bid. Wanting to cover himself, he made a last minute bid (unknown, but higher than what it ended at). The auction then took him up to the bid increment of $25 over the last bidder, even though he had another bid in between. If 1200 bucks wasn't too much, I really wonder what that final proxy bid actually was...
