    C2 Trim Tag

It's amazing what folks will do to get an original of one of these "in order to replace a lost or damaged original". Check out eBay #2433815497. I hope the person that bought it doesn't make the SLIGHTEST mistake when the "original information for the car" is stamped on the plate.

    $1241 incl scratches

Now the guy's gotta find an Address-o-Graph Machine with proper font, imprint in the correct fields (including known offsets for the particular timeframe and body source), then turn around and lose his "investment" in a couple of years when factory documentation becomes available [assuming this was bought for a color and/or added body options change].

No, that was a "protective" bid placed at the last second to "ward off an attack" by someone else. I don't understand why the bid amount increased by $10, though. The person that bought it, considering the price paid and the "protective bid", seemed almost desperate to get the item. It must be real important to him/her.

Actually, often-times what looks like a person upping the bid against himself is, in fact, a bidder trying to overcome the seller's reserve, which is almost always unkown until you bust it.

That didn't happen in this case. There was no reserve. The opening bid was $500 with, until the first bid was made, a "buy-it-now" price of $2,500.

                Re: Check the bid history.

Joe: The bid increment at that price range is $25. When the buyer made his penultimate bid, he could see that it went to the full amount. Therefore he was within $25 of the next lower bid. Wanting to cover himself, he made a last minute bid (unknown, but higher than what it ended at). The auction then took him up to the bid increment of $25 over the last bidder, even though he had another bid in between. If 1200 bucks wasn't too much, I really wonder what that final proxy bid actually was...

Or, our eBay friend could have just sent $200.00

                    to this gentleman:

Prices listed below include a pair of correct trim tag rivets. Shipping is $12 for 2-3 day USPS Priority Mail. '55-'63 Chevrolets, Bel Air, Impalas: $275 '57-'58 Pontiacs: $275 '64-'77 Chevrolets,...

and get as many tags as he wanted, stamping included. But he he wanted the thrill of the hunt.

A car presented for top flight judging with a detected repro trim tag can acheive no higher than second flight...correct?? I saw it happen at a recent LI chapter meet. The owner withdrew the car from judging.
