Please help me understand my windows

I have a 1967 Coupe with glass markings I do not understand. Every reference book I have says that the glass codes should be AO-1 or AO-2. All of my glass says AS-1 or AS-2. Has anyone ever seen or heard of this before? Do you have any info on what this means. I appreciate anything.

    Steve,

The AS-1 and AS-2 are American Standard specification rating codes for type and clarity of glass. The AS-1 is for windshields and the AS-2 is for side door/vent and rear coupe glass. There are additional codes which tell what month and year each glass was manufactured. For a 1967 car, you can expect the letters: N(Jan),X,L,G,J,I,U,T,A,Y,C,V(Dec) for months and A(1966) or Z (1967) for years. For example AA would be Sept 1966.

Hope this clears things up a little.

Steve-I just wanted to add to Tony's earlier post. The AO1 and AO2 you refered to are the RPO or Regular Production Option codes.AO1 refers to tinted glass in all windows and AO2 is the windshield only code.Regards,Lou Lapham
