I am talking with different camshaft suppliers currently. I have some good ideas from responses I read on the discussion board. Today, one manufacturer said I need to have a shop check the springs in the heads in order to be sure they will work with the camshaft I select. I have already had the heads rebuilt, however, I didn't ask, nor was I given any information regarding the spring height, tension, etc. Is this something I need to do before selecting a camshaft. {I am assuming at this point that the springs are of stock specs}.

Re: 67 BIG BLOCK CAMSHAFT/VALVE SPRINGS
Rob - springs are mated with camshafts...it is always best to follow a particular manufacturers spring suggestion with a specific cam. If you choose a grind with similar duraation, lift, and lobe ramp characteristics as your original 390 cam, the springs (GM I am assuming) you have may be close. I like to check each spring in a RIMAC tester and shim to obtain the correct seat pressure and full lift pressure...Craig- Top
